Saving Cats and the Ecosystem
Saving Cats and the Ecosystem;
Introducing the New Los Gatitos de Marlies Website
by Benjamin Reed
We are thrilled to announce the launch of the new and improved website for Los Gatitos de Marlies! Our non-profit organization is dedicated to rescuing cats and finding them loving homes in Costa Rica. Founded by Marlies and her team of passionate volunteers, we have helped over 450 cats so far with the support of generous donors and caring community members.
Our mission is not only to help cats in need, but also to minimize the impact of domestic cats on the ecosystem in Costa Rica. Stray and feral cats can breed quickly and hunt a large number of bird and animal species, posing a threat to the delicate balance of the local ecosystem. One pregnant feral cat can produce up to 12 kittens in a year, and in just a few years, this can result in thousands of cats that are struggling to survive.
At Los Gatitos de Marlies, we work to address this problem through our spay and neuter programs. We provide low-cost or free spay/neuter services to cat owners in the community, reducing the number of unwanted litters and helping to control the feral cat population. Since our organization's founding, we have prevented the birth of countless kittens, helping to preserve the local ecosystem for future generations to enjoy.
Our new website is a hub of information about our organization, our adoption process, and our success stories. You can also learn about how to volunteer your time or donate to support our cause. We do not provide microchipping, but all of our cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and provided with necessary medical care before they are adopted.
Adopting a cat from Los Gatitos de Marlies not only means providing a loving home to a furry friend in need, but also contributes to our efforts to protect the local ecosystem. We conduct home visits to ensure that our cats are going to safe and loving homes, and we provide ongoing support to our adopters to ensure that both the cats and their human companions are happy and healthy.
Our vision is to become a leading organization in our community for cat rescue and rehoming, as well as spay/neuter and other initiatives to promote responsible pet ownership and protect the environment. With your help, we can continue to make a positive impact on the lives of cats and the ecosystem of Costa Rica.
We invite you to explore our new website, learn more about our organization, and consider how you can support our cause. Whether you choose to donate, volunteer, or adopt, your contribution will make a difference in the lives of cats and in the ecosystem we all share. Thank you for joining us on this journey!
